I like to consider myself a coffee connoisseur. Fun fact about me: I’ll drink hot coffee in the heat of the Charleston summer. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but these are the coffee shops I find myself going back to over and over again!
1. Muddy Waters
James Island
Muddy Waters is on my way virtually everywhere which means I’m there a lot. The staff is so welcoming, and they have some local art, jewelry, soaps, and candles for sale.
Jenny’s recommendation: Vanilla Cinnamon Latte
2. Metto
Mount Pleasant
I’ve been going to Metto for years! If you are looking for a fun place to read or work outside, their deck always seems to have ample seating.
Jenny’s recommendation: Honey Latte (and a pop tart if you’re hungry!)
3. Brown Fox
Mount Pleasant
If you are a client of mine, you’ve likely been gifted a bag of their delicious coffee! There is no inside seating, so plan accordingly, but the coffee is worth weathering the elements, trust me!
Jenny’s recommendation: Southern Pecan black drip coffee (brewed on Mondays and Thursdays)
4. Kudu
Downtown Charleston
Kudu is a downtown staple. They have a great courtyard which is perfect for connecting with friends or reading. Typically filled with locals and College of Charleston students, I love the atmosphere!
Jenny’s recommendation: Cold Brew
5. Harbinger
Downtown Charleston
Harbinger is the cutest little spot downtown. Pro tip: make sure to visit the restroom if only to see the decorating! They make their pastries in house, I’d argue some of the best in the city. If you like Harbinger, definitely also check out their sister store, Harken café!
Jenny’s recommendation: A dirty chai and a chocolate chip cookie
