Downtown Charleston Restaurant Edition

There are so many reasons I love living in Charleston.  You can be outside all year, the proximity to water at all times, the inspiration in our beautiful surroundings, southern hospitality, the rich history, and of course, the incredible restaurants.  Living in Charleston, it is easy to fancy myself a foodie.

Here are a few of my favorite places that you may find to be a bit off the beaten path.

  1. Estadio

This place is a gem!  If you like Spanish tapas, this is a must try!  Come with a group and try everything!  Our server was from Spain, and a wealth of knowledge.  The atmosphere is casual and fun.
Must try drink:  Vermouth (so many options, my favorite was grapefruit peel rose!)

Must try food:  Crispy Black Carolina Rice

  1. Marbled & Fin

If you are local, then you know this place is the talk of the town!  Marbled and Fin is Charleston’s newest steakhouse, and in my opinion is worth the splurge for a special occasion!   The delicious food speaks for itself, but the incredible service is second to none.

Must try drink:  Ask the knowledgeable staff for a red wine recommendation!

Must try food:  the Filet (but if you want to try something unique, get the Australian Wagyu filet!)

  1. Le Farfalle

Le Farfalle has been around for a while, but it is a wonderful Italian restaurant off the beaten path!  Happy hour or anniversary dinner-we’ve never been disappointed by a meal here.  Fun fact:  the owners have an Italian restaurant in New York City which is also phenomenal! They know what they are doing!

Must try drink:  Vertical Railroad

Must try food:  Fusilli Lunghi

  1. The Ordinary

The Ordinary is not new to Charleston, but we recently went for the first time and were so impressed by everything we had.  This restaurant is also great for a group so you can sample a variety of small plates!  I did not know that it also a rum bar, which makes for a fun environment!

Must try drink:  Mojito Royale (on draft)

Must try food:  Crispy Oyster Slider

  1. Co

Co has been in Charleston’s lower King Street for 13 years, so they are doing something right!  If you’ve never tried it, you’re missing out!  A modern take on Asian food, great service, and great location set this place apart.

Must try drink: Blackberry Bourbon Fizz
Must try food:  Curry Laska
